Do I need to do anything special after a treatment?

Drinking water is recommended.

This depends on the severity of the complaint. Someone coming in with excruciating back pain will need more acupuncture than someone with only mild back pain. How long a complaint has been a problem is also a factor. A patient with insomnia that started last week will need less acupuncture than someone that has had insomnia for years. Age can also affect how quickly one responds to acupuncture.

Most treatments tend to be approx. 12-15 needles, depending on the complaint. If a patient is nervous about needles, we can do just a few.

Acupuncture Questions

For most, acupuncture is very relaxing. Some feel a small prick with the needle being inserted, some don't.

Can I move during the treatment?

How does acupuncture work?

Does acupuncture hurt?

Maybe slightly, but mostly you need to stay still and rest. Moving around can cause the needles to fall out or become uncomfortable.

How many sessions will I need?

Acupuncture uses small needles inserted at specific points to stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms and bring you back to a healthy balance. In ancient China, physicians discovered energetic pathways throughout the body called meridians. Points on these meridians can be used to stimulate any area of the body, including muscles, organs and tissues. By utilizing these points, acupuncture can address all sorts of complaints, whether they are of a physical, emotional, or spiritual nature.
